This marathon counts as one of the most important running events of Northern Europe. Each year athletes from all around the world meet to enjoy the run around the capital of Finland. Every August the Helsinki marathon surprises all runners with a delightful landscape and a magnificent Scandinavian sun. This year the capital of the coast of the Gulf of Finland is also accommodating the biggest marathon event.
On august 16 starts the run in Helsinki and the runners are lead through an unforgettable background. The symbiosis of impressive architecture and urban nature offers an amazing running sight throughout the marathon. In the highest part of the North is where our race takes place. Through almost t half of the race the runners are lead along the coast or by big parks. The Parliament, the Finnish National Museum, Opera and Concert and the Congress building are some of the Must-See-Buildings that you can enjoy during your visit. Also don?t let the opportunity to visit the residential areas pass by, the found architecture of these small quarters adapts itself to the city?s atmosphere. After passing the biggest office complexes, like Nokia, the runners must go back to the Olympic stadium. The viewings of the sea that the runners can appreciate during the run following the route and will be preserved in the runners memories after long time. They have almost reached the finishing line in the Olympic stadium the runners can hear the enthusiastic cheers from the fans supporting them all through the marathon.
